Overall Satisfaction with Control-M

We are using Control-M for Backup, Application workflow, File transfer, SAP and DB scripts. Also, we are in process of making use of it in DevOps pipelines.

Pros

  • GUI - has a very rich User Interface
  • Integrations - Out of the box intergation with lots of Market leading applications.
  • Application Integrator: For in-house application, AI provides the platform to create integration on your own.

Cons

  • Technical Support - With experience, it seems they want to avoid supporting customers. None of the organizations are always running with latest H/w, OS, S/w, etc. Business expects Scheduling team to support them in all cases and we expect BMC to support us in cases with there are issues arising due to legacy h/w, s/w but, in my opinion, don't get proper support.
500 - Infra Management teams, Application operations teams and Middle Management.
As far as I know, the cost of having Control-M is too high but, not sure about the ROI though. I think they really need to work on their Tech Support. Sometimes we are told to reproduce the issues that we face but it is not always possible to reproduce the issues.
Control-M comes out on top in this comparison.

It is a very innovative and feature-rich solution and can be used to complete many diverse tasks and solve different issues, resulting in significant time savings and cost-effectiveness.

Airflow is open source so no cost in terms of licensing however, that requires a lot of investment in Dev/R&D.

Automic Workload Automation requires a bit of a learning curve, and the web version is missing many of the solution's best features.
